ABOUT US
This isn’t one of those fake it til you make it stories.
With a history of bartending and selling spirits, Ryan Huntley has always believed 100% real, authentic ingredients are the key to great taste.
When he first began experimenting with agave behind the bar, he would infuse it with fresh herbs from mom’s backyard. As more and more people got a taste, Ryan knew he was onto something sweet and Backyard Nectar was born.
Today, Backyard Nectar is proudly sourced from a local farm in Mexico. Its mission is to satisfy all the world’s sweet needs by providing a healthy alternative to highly processed and refined sugars.
Our Process
Harvest agave plants at 5 to 7 years maturity
Peel agave leaves to reveal the heart or “piña” of the plant
Classify plants to ensure full product traceability
Extract sugar from the “piña” through hydrolisis
Purify product through charcoal filtration
Cook agave at low heat until it reaches desired color and temperature

Our Sustainability Commitment
After harvest, several agave leaves are left behind to naturally fertilize the fields.
All leftover agave fibers called Bagasse are used as biofuel to power the production process with steam.
Reproduction happens through the Hijuelos, or grandchildren of the mother plant. After growing for one year, they are separated and replanted.
